Exploring Expressive Mark-Making & Methods for Painting Loosely

Take your brushwork to the next level in this immersive workshop focused on expressive mark-making and painting with greater freedom and confidence. Through guided demonstrations and hands-on practice, you'll explore a variety of brushstrokes, textures, and application techniques that bring energy, movement, and personality to your paintings.

Students will create three small oil paintings while learning practical methods for loosening up, simplifying forms, and making more intentional, expressive marks. Michaela Yoro will provide in-depth instruction and live demonstrations, helping you understand not only how to paint more loosely, but why these techniques create stronger, more dynamic work.

By the end of the workshop, you'll have a clear framework for incorporating expressive brushwork into your own paintings and the confidence to move beyond overworking and excessive detail.
